CSV / Excel Clean & Check
Fix common data-quality problems and download UTF-8 CSV.
Choose a file
CSV, TXT or XLSX; maximum 10 MB. XLSX reads the first worksheet only.
What it checks
- Outer whitespace
- Blank or repeated headers
- Empty cells
- Exact duplicate rows
Limitations
It does not infer types, repair formulas, merge sheets or detect near-duplicates. Keep the original and review output.
FAQ
Is my file stored?
Your file is processed locally in this browser and is not uploaded to our server.
Example cleanup workflow
Suppose a customer export contains the headers First name , Email and another Email column. The cleaner trims the spaces, assigns a distinct name to the repeated header, reports empty cells and removes rows that are exact duplicates. It does not guess whether two similar people are the same person.
Before and after
A value such as Luna Park becomes Luna Park. A completely repeated row can be removed, while a row with a different email address remains. Downloaded CSV uses UTF-8 so international characters are preserved in compatible spreadsheet software.
Safe use and limitations
- Review the summary before downloading.
- Keep the source file; the download is a new copy.
- XLSX processing reads the first worksheet and exports CSV, so formulas, formatting and additional sheets are not retained.
- Large or unusually encoded files may need a desktop spreadsheet application.
Common questions
Why does the downloaded file reopen differently?
Spreadsheet programs can infer dates, numbers and separators when reopening CSV. Import the file explicitly as UTF-8 and choose the correct delimiter when automatic detection is wrong.
Can it find near-duplicates?
No. Removal is deliberately limited to exact repeated rows after trimming, which avoids silently merging records that merely look similar.
